New agreement between BUKH and VOLVO PENTA

The 07/09/2016

Volvo Penta and Danish manufacturer BUKH entered into a partnership whereby Volvo Penta will supply BUKH with diesel engines of up to 16 litres capacity for new lifeboat propulsion solutions. The agreement between the two companies allows BUKH to extend its range of SOLAS engines and allows Volvo Penta to extend the use of its products in new applications. Lifeboat builders will benefit by increasing the range of available power and the multitude of comprehensive technology offered by these two companies.'We are investing in the SOLAS range through this agreement with BUKH' says Bjorn Saljo, Responsible for Volvo Penta commercial marine production.'We see strong SOLAS potential for the future. This gives us the ability to adapt engines to the SOLAS market'

Production of engines

Volvo Penta will supply D3, D4, D6, D8, D13 and D16 engines to BUKH, in the power range from 110 to 800hp, the Danish company will adapt these engines to adhere to the SOLAS regulations and the LSA Code. The expanded power range will allow BUKH to increase the range of engine offerings available to customers for their small, medium and large lifeboats. BUKH will also be able to use Volvo Penta's innovative technologies, including the electronic platform (EVC, a ready-to-operate, simple system that integrates all functions from the driver interface to the engine and power systems), reverse gear options and accessories such as the Powertrim Wizard to achieve rapid planing speeds) and slow mode (to reduce engine speed at idle and add extra safety)
